Mason Antonio (New Orleans Birth Photography)

Having two babies of my own now has definitely taken a chunk out of my time to spend working on the “extras”. Blogging is one of those things that gets pushed aside when time is tight! This little guy is 8 months old now, but here’s his story!

I first met Gabriella and Michael the day before her due date. Gabriella was planning on a water birth with her midwife, and as time passed, she was doing everything known to man to go into labor naturally! Another week went by and their little boy was still nice and cozy inside his mama. If she decided to wait much longer, Gabriella’s care would have to be transferred to an OB. Instead, a nice and slow induction was planned.

Some inductions go perfectly and all that is needed is a little jump start to get labor to take over on it’s own. Other inductions go on for days, and don’t end as they were planned. This was one of those inductions. The first whole day of labor I just kept in touch with Gabriella and Michael, waiting to hear that things were picking up before meeting them at the hospital. I got word from them around 3am on the second day, asking me to come.

Poor Gabriella had been working through labor for nearly 24 hours when I arrived, and needless to say, was exhausted.

After a while she decided to go ahead and get an epidural so that she could relax, get some rest, in hope that she would be closer to birth soon! I headed back home to get a little bit of sleep too, and then came back to the hospital later in the morning to find that things were looking up!

It wasn’t long though before it looked like a c-section was unavoidable.PINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGE

Because this was an emergency section, I wasn’t allowed to be in the operating room to document this little baby’s entrance into the world. Instead, we waited. But it wasn’t long before Mason Antonio was here, welcomed by his biggest fans!PINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGE

Finally, this strong and proud mama was reunited with her baby!

Isn’t that one adorable little face?!

Thank you so much, Gabriella for letting me be a part of this pivotal moment in your life!
