Amy was at the hospital in early labor. She was just 3cm, but I decided to leave early and begin heading to drop off my kids at a friend’s house. I was almost there when dad updated me – she was 4 cm and getting the epidural. Just about 30 minutes later, I was just a couple of minutes away from Ochsner’s Westbank campus, thinking I was getting there entirely too early.
Jason called. “Where are you? They called the doctor. She’s pushing!”
What?! I couldn’t believe it, and I’ve never been so frantic trying to get into the hospital! Amy was pushing, but I was thankful to see a much more relaxed environment than what I was expecting! This turned out to be one comical birth to photograph, thanks to a hilarious daddy, great nurses, and a mama who took it all with grace.
The extended family was waiting right outside the open delivery room door, listening in on all the action!
I love this moment!
Thank you, Amy and Jason for letting me be a part of it all!
